About

Plum Grove was the home of Robert Lucas, Iowa’s first Territorial Governor. He and his wife, Friendly, built this house in the middle of a plum grove in 1844. The two-story Greek Revival house is constructed of local red brick and is owned by the State Historical Society of Iowa. Authentic period furnishings of the period have been provided and are owned by the Iowa Society.
