About

The house was built by Robert Stewart, a planter and militia captain. It was acquired in 1787 by Daniel Tucker a prominent Georgetown merchant who entertained President George Washington when he visited on April 30, 1791. The house is the only extant brick residence in Georgetown built before the American Revolution. The house was donated to the South Carolina Society in 2006 and is leased to the City and used together with the adjacent Kaminski House Museum.
